So I was lucky enough to receive a very exciting Christmas present this year-you guessed it The Good Life DVD series on box set! The 70s comedy is set in Subiton and features the characters Barbara and Tom who after Toms 40th birthday decide to go self sufficient and Tom quits his job and digs up the back garden for veg, chicken keeping, a goat and pigs! Their long-suffering neighbours Margo and Jerry are the source of support, annoyance, mockery and in the end deep down friendship along the way.
We got so excited that over the course of the Christmas week we managed to watch all of the box set! It was brilliant! We particularly loved all the hilarious outcomes to certain smallholding aspects-like pigs escaping, a dung shortage and a goat not producing any milk!
And of course this series and name gave me the inspiration for the blog name THE GOOD LIFE IN PRACTICE so I feel a particular affinity to it too : )
