Alpler Macaroni Recipe:

A tasty Swiss quick easy dish perfect for the cold winter weather to fill your tummy and warm your cockles!


3 potatoes (scrubbed)

12 onces macaroni (uncooked)

2 tbsps butter

2 onions (peeled and sliced)

1 clove minced garlic

3 spoons flour to thicken white sauce

12 cup gruyere/parmesan cheese (shredded)

1 litre/carton heavy cream




This makes for roughly 10 people-good with a salad and crusty bread!

1 Peel Potatoes and cut into small chunks.
2 Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
3 Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni pasta and potato chunks and cook until barely tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
4 Melt the butter in a large sauce-pan over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir until onion starts to turn translucent. Stir in the garlic, and cook for a few more minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.
5 Layer the macaroni, onions and potatoes into the prepared baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle the shredded Gruyere/Alpkase cheese over the top, and drizzle cream evenly over the entire dish.
6 Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.
