Ballenberg: Swiss German speaking region

Here are some photos of when we visited Ballenberg and learned more about Swiss smallholding and farming from years gone by.

Here are photographs I took of one special building. It is a 19th century building which was used to store small cakes (made of pressed grape residue). These ‘cakes’ were later used for fuel for houses and work places.

Also I took a selection of photographs to show the traditional gardens, vegetable plot designs, Rare Swiss Breed livestock and the special bee-keeping houses they have. Click on any of the pictures below for more information on each.
